Microsoft has launched it's second smartphone in the Nokia X family in India,the Nokia XL at price of ₹ 11,489.The device is now available from the company's online store and will be delivered in 5 working days.However,the smartphone is available online only in it's Green color variant.
The device comes bundled with 3G and 2G offers from Airtel worth ₹ 1050.The offer includes free download of applications from Nokia store & 1Mobile store per month for 6 months (upto 500MB per month) and is valid upto 30 September 2014.User will be offered 2G services where 3G is not available.
The Nokia XL was announced alongwith the Nokia X and Nokia X+ during Mobile World Congress (MWC).During the Nokia X launch in India,the company had announced that the Nokia X and Nokia X+ will be launched in the country in the next two months.
The Nokia XL sports a 5-inch WVGA TrueColor LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 400 resolution and has a pixel density of 187 PPI.It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 768 MB of RAM.It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with Auto-focus and LED-flash while there is a 2-megapixel front facing wide-angle camera.The device comes with 4 GB of internal storage expandable upto 32 GB via micro SD card and 15 GB of free cloud storage.It packs in a 2,000 mAh of battery which provides upto 16 hours of talk-time and 30 days of standby-time.
The highlight of the Nokia XL is that it runs on customized version of Android which the company calls the Nokia X platform.The device runs on Nokia X platform 1.2 with it's Windows Phone inspired tiles and it's own Nokia store.The smartphones have no access to the Google Play store but users can side-load apps from third-party sources.Nokia has used the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) which corresponds to Android 4.1 Jelly-Bean with access to Fastlane.
